How to Access the Permission Draw Over Other Apps

  1. Android Central Question's Avatar

It appears myy phone does not have the option to "Draw over other apps" anywhere on the device. Or any other "special permission" options. Does my device simply not have this installed or am I overlooking it? Please advise.

    Directions state I should:

    Open Settings.
    Scroll down to Apps.
Click on Three Dots or More option.
Click on Configure Apps. // NOT AVAILABLE //
    Select Draw Over Other Apps.

Done and Done. This is the first phone I've come across that doesn't have this option. Am I overlooking it, or is it simply not on my phone for whatever reason?

OEM Chinese phone. No help from manufacturer. Might have to root if all else fails.

Same instructions as previous. My phone doesn't appear to have "Configure Apps" or "Special Apps Access" IDK. real strange. I do have an App Permissions list but in that I do not see the needed "Draw over other Apps" Its like it was omitted in this build of the phone. Any way to access it otherwise or "install" it for lack of a better word?

Weird -- in that case, I'd guess the phone's firmware limits the user from accessing certain system settings like that one. I can't think if a way to access it apart from flashing a custom ROM, but that would require a ROM developer to make one for that exact phone (and that's highly unlikely for a no-name Chinese phone).

Just in case, do you have a search feature in the general settings? Can you see a magnifying glass icon top right? If so, type 'special' and see what you get.

Also look for the words "Appear on Top"

Yeah. I'm at a loss. Sounds likely. I'll try again to get in contact with the manufacturer to see if they have or can comp a firmware update. Otherwise, it sounds like I'll be rooting this thing. Brand of phone is Servo. I only paid $30 for it so I didn't expect it to have all the bells and whistles but for the price it's a pretty good smartphone 'cpt for this oddity. But for 30, I guess I can risk flashing a new rom.

Found the Search but didn't find anything using the search terms "configure" or "special". And my App Permissions list clearly shows it not being an option. Oh well.

I agree with B. Diddy, probably the manufacturer didn't include that particular setting. Unfortunately there's no much we can do to help you out, sorry.
